Red Light Therapy and Jaw Pain (TMD) — What a Network Meta-Analysis of 27 Trials Found

A 2021 systematic review and network meta-analysis in the Journal of Oral Rehabilitation pooled 27 randomised trials covering 969 patients with temporomandibular disorder pain. Low-level laser therapy outperformed transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation for short-term TMD pain relief, with higher-wavelength laser protocols producing the strongest effects.
