Red Light Therapy and Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis — What a Randomised Trial Found

A 2013 randomised, placebo-controlled trial in Lasers in Medical Science treated 43 patients with hypothyroidism from chronic autoimmune (Hashimoto’s) thyroiditis with 10 sessions of low-level infrared laser. The laser group showed improved thyroid function, lower thyroid peroxidase antibody levels, and reduced levothyroxine dose requirements — with the benefits sustained at six-year follow-up.
