Hydrogen Inhalation and COPD Exacerbations — What a 10-Centre Trial Showed

A 2021 multicentre, randomised, double-blind controlled trial in Respiratory Research tested adjunct hydrogen/oxygen inhalation across 10 Chinese hospital centres in patients with acute COPD exacerbations. The hydrogen group showed significantly faster improvement in breathlessness, cough and sputum severity compared with oxygen alone, with a clean safety profile.
